Medieval Romance Monday – Midnight Shadow by Laurel O’Donnell

A medieval romance book. Midnight Shadow by Laurel O'DonnellOur featured medieval romance novel for this week’s Medieval Romance Monday is Midnight Shadow by medieval romance author Laurel O’Donnell.

Author Laurel O’Donnell shares this insight into the book’s creation:

My children were young when I wrote this and we were deeply wound up in watching superheroes.  Batman, Spiderman.  The entire premise for Midnight Shadow was what would it take for someone, a very normal person, to don a mask and try to defeat evil?  What would push a person, or character, to do that?  I came up with the Midnight Shadow as a type of Robin Hood hero.  He stole from the rich and gave to the poor.  In this story, Bria attempts to emulate her fairy tale hero and in doing so comes face to face with the hero.  Enjoy reading Midnight Shadow!

Medieval Romance Monday – The Lady and the Falconer by Laurel O’Donnell

A medieval romance book. The Lady and the Falconer by Laurel O'DonnellOur featured medieval romance novel for this week’s Medieval Romance Monday is The Lady and the Falconer by medieval romance author Laurel O’Donnell.

Author Laurel O’Donnell shares this about the book’s creation:

I’ve always thought falcons were magnificent animals, strong and elegant.  When I wrote The Lady and the Falconer, I thought it would be interesting if the bird had a personality of its own.  It plays a pretty big role in the plot, in that the falcon accompanies the hero, Logan, on his quest and makes his will known.  In this respect, the falcon, who is unnamed in the entire novel, is a character in its own right.  When you read The Lady and the Falconer, see if you don’t agree with me.
